diagnostic Ultrasound
expert imaging for accurate diagnosis
At Highcliffe Chiropractic we’re proud to offer Diagnostic Ultrasound. This is a non-invasive imaging solution to assess muscles, tendons, ligaments and joints with precision. Whether you’re suffering from a recent injury or have a specific concern, diagnostic ultrasound provides the clarity needed for accurate diagnosis and effective care plans.
We’re also pleased to accept external referrals from other healthcare professionals.
Why choose diagnostic ultrasound?
1. Clear Insights, Fast Results
No need to wait for weeks - our on-site ultrasound service provides immediate imaging, so you can get answers faster.
2. Real-Time Imaging
Unlike static imaging, diagnostic ultrasound captures real-time movement, giving a clearer picture of how your soft tissues and joints are working.
3. Painless and Safe
This gentle, non-invasive process uses sound waves instead of radiation, ensuring patient comfort and peace of mind.
4. Ideal for a Range of Conditions
From tendonitis and muscle tears to joint inflammation and chronic pain, ultrasound is a versatile tool for many soft tissue and joint issues.
5. We Accept External Referrals
If your GP, physiotherapist or another clinician has recommended diagnostic ultrasound, we’re happy to provide the service for you.

What Conditions Can Ultrasound Help Diagnose?
Diagnostic ultrasound is ideal for assessing:
Sports Injuries: Including strains, sprains, and muscle or ligament tears.
Chronic Pain: Helping to identify underlying causes of persistent discomfort.
Soft Tissue Concerns: Such as tendonitis, bursitis, or inflammation.
Joint Issues: Assessing fluid build-up, cartilage health, or impingement concerns.
Whether you’re seeking clarity for yourself or coming to us through a referral, our diagnostic ultrasound services can provide the answers you need to move forward with confidence.
If you’re self-referring for an ultrasound and not already a patient, you may need a new patient examination or physical assessment to ensure an ultrasound is the right approach for your condition.
For referring clinicians
We’re proud to work collaboratively with other registered healthcare providers in the Highcliffe community and beyond. If you’re a clinician looking to refer a patient for diagnostic ultrasound, you can rest assured they’ll receive a professional, timely, and thorough assessment at our clinic.
Our diagnostic findings can be shared with the referring practitioner to support ongoing treatment plans, ensuring seamless care for the patient.
what to expect
Step 1
We’ll apply a small amount of conductive gel to the area we’re examining- don’t worry it’s painless and just helps us get clear images
Step 2
Our experienced practitioner uses a handheld transducer to capture real-time images of your tissues and joints.
Step 3
The real-time nature of the examination means results are available immediately, allowing us to discuss the findings with you during your appointment.
If additional treatment is needed, we’ll work with you—or your referring clinician—to recommend the best course of action.
Excellent and Caring. I was suffering with severe shoulder pain, after a few chiropractic treatments with Holly, she discussed my case with David, he advised an ultrasound which they were both present for, turned out I had torn the ligaments in both shoulders. My treatment was altered accordingly. I started to see improvement in my right shoulder, but my left was getting no better. We then discussed shockwave treatment for my left shoulder. On the day of the first treatment they were both present and made a huge effort to make me feel comfortable and put me at ease. My left shoulder has now caught up with the right and I am now pain free. Thank you both for your compassion and determination to help me.
